It is important for seniors to constantly talk with their medical professionals how various medical decisions will minimize the probability of falling. Each time a senior changes a prescription or becomes aware of some change in their medical condition they should consult with their health care professional if some specific steps should be taken to reduce their risk of falling.
A relatively small amount of time spent understanding, reviewing and assessing fall risk factors can help prevent many falls and reduce a senior's fear of falling.

- Counseling seniors on ways to prevent falls, and helping individuals to develop safety-related skills and habits allows individuals to regain confidence in their mobility and reduce the likelihood of falling.
- Counseling with the support community, caregivers, and family members of the senior. This type of education allows the individuals who directly interact with the senior to review and observe the status of the senior both in regards to their general medical condition, physical fitness and home safety environment. When some situation occurs which increases the likelihood of falling those in the senior's support community to seek, or encourage the senior themselves to seek further assistance to reduce fall risk.
- Sharing information with other professionals regarding the latest developments regarding fall prevention and mobility. The free flow of knowledge and how best to disseminate that information is essential.
- Education also includes the prompt distribution to the wider community information relevant and useful to seniors and their support community.
